Today I’m having feelings about sad baby Bruce.
From JLU #28.
Honestly the only way I can deal with Bruce’s in text Shaming of Jason, is framing it as a lie he’s told himself until he believes it because we all know he can’t handle grief and death with anything resembling real coping. He blames Jason because if he accepts any guilt over it he can’t function.
I can’t deal with it at all. It grates on me until I need to just stop reading.
It’s very in character for Bruce to dissociate himself from the grief and pain of losing Jason by creating this lie, but it wouldn’t last long. He’d remember Jason as he really was eventually, and I refuse to believe the rest of the Bat family would let him carry on shaming Jason for very long.
Out of character and unimaginative writing is OOC and unimaginative.
